With a golden buzzer in his wake, Ted Hill is back and he has his clicky laser pointer. Powerpoindexter is a fun celebration of weirdness through the medium of transitions and SFX.
Coming 7th on BGT behind a dog hasn’t stopped Ted Hill from delving into some personal growth. We’re handed laminated signage, and Hill checks in throughout the show – Is it too weird, or not weird enough? Between the klaxons and 2D animations, Powerpoindexter is about Ted’s acceptance of everything that makes him different.
The show gallops off at a great pace, and Hill’s timing is immaculate. There’s no doubt about it, the man knows his way around Powerpoint. He jumps around the wonderfully nerdy & absurd, with a commendable joke rate.
He seems a lot more comfortable on stage since his TV debut, and easily handles an interactive crowd. A few awkward lulls can be forgiven, as that’s sort of what the whole journey is about- nothing a rotating cut-out of Hill’s own face can’t dispel, and the audience seem to enjoy it, even if a few amongst them were absolutely too young for the C-word. (Consenting guardians aside)
